About Child Bereavement UK
Child Bereavement UK is a leading charity dedicated to supporting grieving children, young people (up to age 25), and parents bereaved of a baby or child (who has died or is expected to die before their 26th birthday). Through free expert guidance, resources, and compassionate support, they help people to rebuild their lives, in their own time. With a compassionate and holistic approach, the charity provides a range of services aimed at helping individuals navigate the complex and challenging emotions that accompany grief.
Child Bereavement UK's vision is for all families to have the support they need to rebuild their lives, when a child grieves or when a child dies. Their mission is to tackle the inequalities that exist in the availability, accessibility and quality of bereavement support and training across the UK and to build capacity within communities to manage the impact of child bereavement. The charity offers a variety of services, including free UK-wide, on-demand bereavement support via phone, email, live chat and text or WhatsApp, group support and one-on-one counselling, and a range of training and education programmes for professionals supporting bereaved families and carers they work with.
In addition to direct support, Child Bereavement UK is committed to raising awareness about the impact of child bereavement and advocating for better support services for those affected. Through educational initiatives, public campaigns, and partnerships with healthcare providers and policymakers, the charity works to reduce stigma surrounding grief and ensure that bereaved families receive the understanding and support they need.
Child Bereavement UK also provides practical guidance and resources to help families navigate the practical aspects of loss, including advice on talking to children about death, coping with grief in the workplace, and accessing financial support.
Furthermore, the charity plays an active role in training and supporting professionals across various sectors, including education, healthcare, and social services, to better understand and respond to the needs of bereaved children and families.
Overall, Child Bereavement UK serves as a beacon of hope and support for bereaved families and individuals, or those facing the death of someone important, offering compassionate care, practical guidance, and advocacy to help them navigate their grief journey with understanding and resilience.
