ASA - Autoimmune Support & Awareness Foundation
The Autoimmune Support and Awareness Foundation, found by Asal Shirazi BEM in 2022, was created in response to the distinct lack of information available to those suffering from autoimmune conditions and diseases.
Asal herself has a number of autoimmune conditions herself, and she struggled when explaining her conditions to others, so she initially created a group to educate people.
The foundation was then set up to help the general public understand the root causes of autoimmune diseases. With the hope that increasing the awareness of these conditions will lead to better understanding, and therefore contribute to quicker diagnoses, the development of targeted research and effective treatments.
They have three main objectives:
· To accelerate autoimmune condition awareness through education
· To promote early detection and effective diagnosis processes
· To drive targeted treatment and therapy
Currently, there are over 100 diseases and conditions associated with autoimmune disease.
