Abbie's Army
Abbie’s Army is on a mission to raise awareness of DIPG and fund research towards a cure for the most fatal type of brain cancer.
Currently, those effected are expected to survive for just 9 months. About 40 children are diagnosed in the UK annually.
DIPG grows in the PONS area of the brainstem, making surgery impossible. Currently, there are no approved or validated 'data-driven' effective treatments or a cure available.
The condition receives no direct funding for research from the government, and the funding that does exist is insufficient and will not sustain the vital work that needs to be done to make progress.
Through firsthand knowledge and experience, Abbie’s Army understands just how invaluable such advancements and advocacy is to making a difference, and creating a brighter future for families devastated by this disease.
The charity’s vision is a world where there is a cure for every child diagnosed with DIPG.
